General Information
The visa application for family reunification has to be submitted online first without exception. You will receive feedback in advance as to whether your documents are complete. Your appointment at the German Embassy in Manama will then be quickly and efficiently. You show your original documents, hand in your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) and pay the fee.

Please prepare the following documents and submit them via the online portal
- All Applicants
- One (1) current biometric passport photo. Digitally processed photos cannot be accepted.
- Original passport (or travel document) valid for at least 3 months longer than the intended stay. It must contain at least two blank pages and must have been issued within the last 10 years.
- Provide a copy of the passport data page and if applicable previous visas withing the last three (3) years.
- Bahrain CPR.
- Bahrain Residence Permit (if applicable).
- Registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung) of the German citizen you reunite with residing in Germany (not older than six months).If you do not yet have a place of residence in Germany, you can prove your residential address, e.g. by presenting a rental agreement or proof of ownership. If you would initially like to move into temporary accommodation, please submit an informal letter from the accommodation provider (e.g. family members or friends) or a hotel booking. The address given will determine the foreigners authority responsible for the application, which may be involved in the visa procedure and will issue the residence permit after entry.
- Proof of sufficient health insurance in Germany, valid from entry for at least 90 days.
2) Addtional Documents for Family Reunion to the Foreign Spouse
- Marriage certificate.
- Passport or identity card of the spouse.
- In case of previous marriages: divorce deed or death certificate.

- If applicable: previous visas within the last three (3) years.
- Bahrain CPR.

- Signed employment contract or letter of intent from the future employer in Germany including details about salary, working hours and duration of employment as well as full address of the employer.
- Proof of qualifications entitling the applicant to the aspired occupation in Germany (e. g. university degree etc.), please check with the recognized information platform ANABIN and provide a print-out accordingly.
- Declaration of employment by the future employer - please note: All information have to be completed.
- If applicable: Pre-approval from the local work agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit).
- Proof of accommodation in Germany with full address (e. g. renting contract, hotel reservation or invitation letter in case of private accommodation with name, full address and passport copy of inviting person).
- CV including educational and professional achievements.
- Proof of adequate health insurance cover.
General Information
Skilled workers whose foreign qualifications are not (yet) recognized in Germany can take further educational courses to achieve the recognition of their qualification and to take up employment in their field.

Unless otherwise specified, the documents must be submitted in a single copy (originals with one copy). Originals will be returned after the application has been processed at the latest.

- Declarations according to § 54 (2) no. 8 in conjunction with § 53 of the German Residence Act, duly signed.

- So-called Notification of Deficits (“Defizitbescheid”) from the authority responsible for the recognition of the foreign professional qualification mentioning the adaptation measures required for the recognition or the professional licenseProof of payment of the course fee for the entire stay.
- Admission/confirmation of all educational measures necessary for the recognition or professional license (e.g. (specific) language course booking, preparatory courses for the assessment test, if necessary signed internship contract, ...).
- Proof of accommodation during the stay in Germany.
- Proof of German knowledge, usually at the Level B1.
- Letter of motivation.
- CV including educational and professional achievements.
- Proof of previous education (e.g. school leaving certificate, certificates of vocational training).
- if applicable: evidence of professional experience corresponding to the qualification.
- if applicable: current employment letter.
- Blocked account (Sperrkonto) at a German bank showing a minimum amount according to the duration of your intended stay.
NOTE: You have to open the blocked account directly with a bank of choice. Additional information on blocked accounts in Germany can be found on the website of the German Foreign Ministry. Open the blocked account in good time BEFORE you apply for a visa. When applying for a visa, only the official confirmation of the opening of the account including information on the amount paid in and the amount available per month will be accepted. All applicants who wish to seek gainful employment (it is only possible to apply for it if you have a concrete job offer or contract) in Germany are required to obtain a residence permit in the form of a visa. This residence permit must be issued before entering the country.

2. Additional Documents when entering the country for direct employment as nursing professional
- Declaration of employment completed and signed by the future employer. Please note: All information have to be completed.
- Certificate of completion in a nursing profession.
- Decision on the recognition of the professional qualification.
- Confirmation of the granting of the professional license.
- Proof of German language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
3. Additional Documents when entry for recognition as a nursing professional
- Certificate of completion in a nursing profession.
- Notification of partial recognition of the professional qualification (Defizitbescheid).
- Proof of the adaptation measures/preparation courses for the knowledge test/German courses with details of the number of hours per week and the provider of the measure.
- If you intend to work as a nursing assistant at the same time: “Declaration of employment” completed and signed by the future employer.
Otherwise: proof of sufficient financial means e. g. blocked account. More information about the amounts necessary can be found here. - Proof of German language skills at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
4. Additional Documents when entering the country to complete training in a nursing profession
- Training contract (signed by both the nursing school and the nursing facility).
- Proof of German language proficiency at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or
proof of a German course with at least 18 hours per week as well as proof of livelihood during the German course. - Proof of sufficient financial means e. g. blocked account. More information about the amounts necessary can be found here.

2. Documents to be submitted when entering the country to start a degree course/attend the preparatory college
- Admission letter from a German higher education institution (college, university).
- Where not confirmed by the university in the admittance notification: Proof of language skills in the language of instruction for the study course or the preparatory course (without a preparatory language course as a rule at least B2 in the language of instruction).
3. For preparatory language courses / internships
- Admission to the preparatory language course (at least 18 hours per week) or acceptance letter for internship.
- Confirmation of fees paid for at least three months.
- If applicable: Proof of German language skills already acquired.
4. University or college application
- Proof of invitations to entrance exams.
- Proof of language skills in the language of instruction.
5. For Minors
- Birth certificate of the applicant.
- Parental authorization (both parents).
- Proof of identification of the parents (For minors (below 18), generally both parents / legal guardians must apply in person (with the child) and must sign the application form personally at the German Embassy in Manama on the booked appointment).

All applicants who wish to attend a regular school in Germany are required to obtain a residence permit in the form of a visa. This residence permit must be issued before entering the country.

- School attendance from the 9th grade or higher
- Classes composed of students of different nationalities
- Education costs are borne by the parents
- It must be a general education school that leads to a university entrance qualification or a comparable qualification
- Students are generally accommodated in a boarding school belonging to the school
- Applying for a visa to attend school is only possible if there are less than 90 days between entry and the start of school attendance. If the school attendance is to be preceded by a language course of more than 90 days, only a visa for the language course can be applied for initially

- CV and letter of motivation.
- Proof of previous school career and last school report.
- Formal declaration of commitment in accordance with Sections 66-68 of the Residence Act (AufenthG).

- Declaration on the transfer of personal care for the entire duration of school attendance, stating the school to be attended and power of attorney to exercise substitute, (including apostille or legalise) and German translation.
- Declaration of acceptance by the person to whom custody is to be transferred, with a copy of their identity card or passport with residence permit

ALTE-certified examination provider). - Proof of adequate financial means: A blocked account (Sperrkonto) at a German bank showing a minimum amount according to the duration of your intended stay. If an unpaid preparatory German language course is completed first, or if the trainee salary is lower, the monthly shortfall to the net amount must be proven separately, e.g., by means of a blocked account.
